How We Can Help?
A tree doesn’t have to fall to cost you. The most expensive tree problems aren’t the dramatic ones — the storm-toppled pine or the emergency removal after a failure. They’re the slow ones. The oak that’s been declining for three years while everyone assumed it was just “having a rough season.” The magnolia with a fungal infection that quietly spread to two neighboring trees before anyone called an arborist. The newly planted live oak that never thrived because the soil conditions were wrong from day one.
Tree health and disease management is about catching those problems early — when intervention is still possible, still affordable, and still capable of saving the tree. As an ISA Certified Arborist, this is some of the most important work we do. It requires a trained eye, a working knowledge of Houston’s specific disease pressures and pest populations, and the patience to explain what we’re seeing in language that actually makes sense to a homeowner.
At Horizon Arbor Solutions, we conduct thorough health assessments, develop targeted treatment plans, and coordinate with our trusted field partners to deliver the right intervention at the right time. If a tree can be saved, we’ll tell you exactly how. If it can’t, we’ll tell you that too — honestly, and with a clear explanation of why.

Signs Your Tree May Have a Health Problem
Trees communicate — you just have to know what to look for. These are the signs we ask property owners to watch for between professional assessments:
Leaf Discoloration
Yellowing leaves (chlorosis), brown or scorched leaf margins, spots or lesions on leaves, or unusual patterns of discoloration can all point to specific diseases, nutrient deficiencies, or environmental stressors.
Bark Changes
Cracks, cankers, oozing sap, peeling bark, sunken areas, or unusual discoloration on the trunk or major branches. Bark is a tree’s first line of defense — when it’s compromised, it’s usually telling you something important.
Mushrooms or Fungal Growth
Mushrooms or conks growing at the base of a tree or on the trunk are a serious warning sign. They indicate fungal decay that is often already well advanced inside the tree. This is not something to wait on — call us for an assessment.
Unusual Insect Activity
Wilting or Drooping
Leaves or branches that are wilting when the tree should be vigorous — especially during growing season — can indicate vascular disease, root damage, or severe drought stress.
Root Zone Changes
Soil heaving, mushrooms in the root zone, construction disturbance, grade changes, or compaction near the base of the tree. Root problems are often invisible above ground until they reach a critical point — which is why root zone assessment is part of every health evaluation we conduct.
General Decline
Sometimes there’s no single dramatic symptom — just a tree that seems to be slowly losing ground. Smaller leaves each year. A canopy that used to be full but now has gaps. Branches dying back from the tips. This kind of gradual decline is worth taking seriously because by the time it’s obvious, the window for intervention may be closing.
