How We Can Help?
When a storm moves through Greater Houston, the damage it leaves behind doesn’t always announce itself. Some of it is obvious — a tree across your roof, a limb through your fence, your driveway blocked at midnight by something that used to be a 60-foot pine. But some of it is hidden. A root system that was destabilized by saturated soil but hasn’t failed yet. A major union that cracked under the wind load and is now held together by a thread. A tree that looks completely intact from the street but has sustained internal damage that makes it significantly more dangerous than it was before the storm.
That’s why storm damage response and emergency tree service are inseparable. The emergency is what gets you on the phone with us. The assessment is what protects you from what comes next.
At Horizon Arbor Solutions, we handle both — the immediate response to active hazards and the thorough post-storm assessment that tells you the full picture of what the storm did to your trees. As an ISA Certified Arborist, our role is to be on-site quickly, assess accurately, communicate clearly, and coordinate our trusted field partners to address what needs to be addressed — starting with what’s most dangerous and working through the full scope of storm impact on your property.
We also provide the certified documentation your insurance company needs to process your claim — prepared correctly, from the start, so the claim process moves as smoothly as possible.
If you’re dealing with an active tree emergency right now — call us. We respond any time, day or night.

Houston's Storm Landscape — What We're Up Against
Hurricane & Tropical Storm Damage
Houston’s hurricane history is well-documented — and so is what these storms do to the urban tree canopy. High sustained winds combined with saturated soils create the most dangerous combination for tree stability. A tree’s root system anchors it by gripping the surrounding soil — but when that soil is saturated by 10, 15, or 20 inches of pre-storm rainfall, the grip is dramatically reduced. This is why so many trees that were perfectly healthy come down during major hurricane events. The tree didn’t fail — the soil’s ability to hold the tree failed.
Winter Ice Events
Houston’s ice storms are infrequent but consistently damaging to the tree canopy. Ice accumulation adds hundreds of pounds of load to branches that aren’t designed for it. Co-dominant stems and weak branch unions that would handle a normal storm without issue can fail catastrophically under ice loading. Live oaks, pecans, and southern magnolias — Houston’s most common large shade trees — are particularly vulnerable due to their broad spreading canopies. After any significant ice event, walk your property carefully and look for cracked unions, split branches, and unusual lean before assuming your trees are unchanged.
